Family & Medical Leave

The University provides up to 26 workweeks of unpaid, job-protected FML during a "single 12-month period" to eligible employees for the following qualifying basic leave and military family leave reasons:

  • The birth of the employee’s child and/or to bond with the newborn child;
  • The placement of a child with the employee for adoption or foster care and/or to bond with the newly placed child;
  • A serious health condition of the employee;
  • To care for the employee’s spouse, child or parent who has a serious health condition;
  • To address any qualifying exigency arising out of the fact that the employee’s spouse, child or parent is a covered military member on covered active duty; or
  • To care for a covered servicemember with a serious injury or illness if the eligible employee is the servicemember’s spouse, son, daughter, parent, or next of kin
